Using unique geometry, our innovative mechanism positions the wheels directly beneath the load. Whether you’re lifting a 50kg barrel or 350kg drum, input force is always below 20kg, making this one of the safest drum trolleys on the market. We won Tomorrow’s World Inventors of the Year in 2000, followed by the Product Innovation Award at the Safety Expo in 2001. Since then we’ve refined our design, and the DTC01 continues to lead the way in safe drum handling around the world.

Fully adjustable rim catch
Fully adjustable rim catch
The gripping catch has vertical height adjustment and a range of hook positions, allowing you to connect to drums from 50- to 205-litre. Simply remove the pin from the catch, adjust the position of the top hook and replace the pin to fit your drum into the trolley. We often get asked if a separate plastic drum trolley is available for MAUSER or L-Ring drums; this is the only unit required as the DTC01 is universal and can easily connect to steel, plastic and fibreboard drums.
Sliding drum catch
Sliding drum catch
Oil drums come in many different heights depending upon the style and volume. The DTC01 drum catch can be adjusted vertically by squeezing together two spring-loaded sections. This clever design is quick and easy to operate and provides maximum flexibility when moving drums and barrels of varying heights. Each catch is hand-assembled and tested by our engineers in our drum trolley UK manufacturing plant.
Balanced load
Balanced load
When you move the oil drum trolley into the deployed position, the wheels slide beneath the drum. By positioning the centre of gravity directly over the wheels, the unit provides ultimate stability and control when transporting drums. This design feature is unique to STS and was first developed back in 1999 in Cornwall, UK.
Manually moving heavy drums can lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) as detailed in our safety section. This workplace risk means that it is essential for companies to carry out detailed assessments of risks being undertaken by staff. The DTC01 has been proven to reduce the effort it takes to move drums and therefore reduces workplace injuries.
Stainless-steel construction
Stainless-steel construction
We construct all of our Universal Drum Trolleys from corrosion-resistant stainless steel in the UK. Thousands of our trolleys are used across the manual handling industry, many exposed to harsh environments. By using the finest construction materials, we make sure that your unit lasts a long time and continues to perform as a premium product. Many of our original trolleys manufactured in 1999 are still in use today and have received no replacement parts.
Chemical-resistant wheels
Chemical-resistant wheels
To make sure the trolley works well in all conditions, we use high-quality elasticated rubber wheels. We also use rubber-sealed (RS) precision bearings, to provide premium wheel performance in harsh environments. For you to get the most out of this unit we recommend using it on smooth surfaces.
Drum suitability
Drum suitability
Our Universal Drum Trolley can handle a wide range of drum types including 200-litre (45 gallon) drums. For a breakdown of the drums with which this product is compatible, please see the drum suitability document below. If the drums you use aren’t in the document, contact us and we'll give you guidance.
ATEX / UKEX-certified for gas and dust zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 (optional)
ATEX / UKEX-certified for gas and dust zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 (optional)
We can provide a fully-certified ATEX / UKEX drum trolley for use in hazardous work areas. Our DTC01-Ex is suitable for gas and dust classified spaces: Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22, where explosive or potentially explosive atmospheres exist.
The trolley is manufactured to ensure electrical continuity, and a path to ground is always present. We supply our ATEX / UKEX equipment with a manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity which states compliance with the directives and relevant British and ISO Standards.
